Food

All catering at Hanford is in-house, thereby ensuring that we have a close control on the quality of the food offered.

We are fortunate to have extensive walled gardens in which fruit and vegetables are grown and supplied to the kitchens.

In April and May for example, the girls enjoy home grown rhubarb and new potatoes and the gardeners are bringing on a wide variety of legumes and herbs, while the infamous Hanford lemon tree bears its glorious sweet lemons. Much of our meat is sourced from our local award winning butcher - Simon Harvell of Iwerne Minster. As a result the girls enjoy a variety of seasonal and fresh food grown on their doorstep as well as locally sourced ingredients.

We aim to minimise waste, and the girls have the opportunity to comment on the food and make requests, via their own committee. Their views are taken into account and adopted where possible and appropriate.
